Xu GuoHeng,Professor,Executive Deputy Director of the Department of Laboratory Animal Science, Health Science Center, Peking University

Graduated from the Department of Clinical Medicine at Henan Medical University in 1987, obtained a master’s degree in Pharmacology from the same university in 1990, and received a doctoral degree in Pharmacology from Sun Yat-sen University of Medical Sciences in 1995. Subsequently, joined the Neuroscience Center at Peking University Health Science Center as a postdoctoral fellow. In late 1997, went to the United States to work as a visiting researcher at the Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) and the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) under the National Institutes of Health (NIH). Returned to China in 2003.

The main research focuses on the cellular biology functions of intracellular lipid droplets and lipid droplet-coating proteins, the regulatory mechanisms of lipolysis and its involvement in lipolysis, obesity, and insulin resistance in diabetes, and the fascial origin of fat. Has undertaken projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China and major national scientific research projects.
